A newly appointed Justice of the Peace, Ammaari Musa Semwogerere has been arrested and sacked for disguising as a lady to sit down for exams for his girlfriend on the Legislation Improvement Centre (LDC) Lira, Uganda.

In keeping with native media, Semwogerere was promoted by the Judicial Service Fee to the place of Justice of the Peace Grade One on probation two weeks in the past.

On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, Semwogerere, alias Mukisa Anthony, was caught red-handed whereas writing an examination for a his girlfriend, a Bar Course scholar recognized as Irene Mutonyi, on the Legislation Improvement Centre (LDC) Lira Campus.

Authorities on the campus reported the matter to the police and the suspect was arrested and charged with two counts of forgery, and a rely of impersonation.

On Friday, July 28, he appeared earlier than the Lira Chief Justice of the Peace who remanded him to jail until August 3, 2023.

LDC director, Frank Nigel Othembi in a press release, stated Semwogerere’s offense was in contravention of Part 351 of the Penal Code Act and Impersonation opposite to Part 381 of the Penal Code Act.

Following the incident, the Judiciary issued a press release terminating Semwogerere’s new appointment.

“The Judiciary want to inform most of the people that Mr. Semwogerere Ammaari Musa, one of many newly recruited Magistrates I can’t be employed into the Judiciary Service,” the letter reads partly.
